Gents

I need help.

I fitted a new twin brake master and new front lines to my mini today. I have 4 spot metro calliper and standard rears. I have been unable to get any pressure in the pedal when bleeding. I have bleed both nipples on each caliper and passed over half a litre of brake fluid through the front end. At this stage i have not concentrated on the rear and it should make no difference as it is a dual system.

Has anybody got any ideas or had similar experiences. The master cylinder is a reco system purchased last week, could it be faulty? are ther any checks that can be done to see if it is faulty?

I always thought when you were bleeding the wheels you were bleeding the cylinders so it would matter if there's air trapped in the rear lines?

First of all half a litre aint much fluid to pass when yer bleedin :roll:

Have you started by bleeding the Master Cylinder first :?:

Sorry to hijack but is there a way to bleed the tall Mcylinder? It doesn't seem to have a nipple on it and just runs straight down into a line splitter :(.

I read somewhere on this site (or maybe MM forum) that with this dual circuit MC, Leyland recommended you bleed ONE SIDE at a time, both F & R together. :wink:

Hey... Just a thought... if, somehow and likely, air got into your rear lines, wheather it's a dual circuit system or not, you will not get a brake pedal until you bleed the rear brakes because there'll still be air in the system not matter how much you bleed the fronts... sounds right to me anyways...

Brad had that trouble, he finally found the rear cylinders were sucking air in past the seals.
2 new S rear cylinders fixed it, but it was still a PITA to bleed.
Blardy dual circuits.... :lol:

Something like.....

often air is trapped in the connecting pipe between the 2 wheel cylinders and it can be a PIA to get it out. DRMINI suggests that you loosen off the interconnecting pipe at the wheel cylinder that doesn't have the brake hose connected to it and pump the pedal and you will quite often get air out that was trapped in the interconnecting pipe

[but obviously checking fluid level at the time].... :idea:
