I've got a problem with my drivers door. The outside handle appears to be connected still (I haven't taken the door card off yet to check), but it won't open the door. It has been getting progressively worse up until now when it stopped altogether. I've had to resort to opening from the inside for a while now - but that means getting in through the passenger side first or leaving the quarter window unlocked on the drivers side.

I sprayed some WD40 onto the locking mechanism last time and it worked for a while but has come back. This time it hasn't helped.

What should I be looking for - any hints?
Thanks

Kevin - take off the door cards and watch the action of the mechanism. You will see fairly quickly where the problem is. There is a threaded rod that sometimes needs adjustment.

Failing that - I have a number of door mechanisms, tell me what you need and I can either post it down, give it to Brendan to take to Hurlstone when he goes back sunday or bring it with me for MDU.

Same symptoms, may not be same cause.
I'll have a good look at it from both sides.

Anton - thanks for reminding me. 8)

Yes and No Anton.
I managed to fix it yesterday. There was no more adjustment left on the two nuts you mentioned so I had to take it all apart and get that bracket that they hold on off, and slot the holes some more to give it more adjustment. Gave it all a spray with WD and it's good now.

This arvo I was playing around with the car, and noticed some slop in the passengers side, so I took it apart and adjusted it too. Didn't have to modify the bracket on that side though.

Thanks Guys.
