could it be braised up or lead loaded? or is it too big?

any suggestions welcome...

A good person with a mig should be able to take care of that without distorting much.

I would be keen to learn how to weld and then practice on scrap metal, what places can offer this?

usually community courses and the like over here if its just for fun. i brought an arc welder and practiced myself, it just takes time to learn on thin steel. mate has a mig, but has had some traning at uni, but really its all practice and knowing how to set the machine up right.
