Just quickly can anyone tell me which minis didn't have chrome around the top part of the door (the window area)? I've got some that are steel around there and are the same colour as the rest of the door, any ideas?

The cheap models didn't have the chrome.
Mini-Minor (old door handles)
Mini 1100 (Poverty pack Clubman, with lift up handles)
Leyland Mini (Not Mini S, still with lift up handles)

Stainless Steel door surrounds were fitted to Cooper S, Mini K, Clubman GT, S, LS

Deluxe, Matic, standard Clubmans didn't get them.

Yep, most all Matics here were really a Mini-K as far as trim goes. 8)

Cooper 997 and 998s (and English Cooper S's) had a chrome surround fitted that was different to any other mini.
Much thinner and held on by cup washers secured by pop rivets (the trim simply snaps on over the rivets). Like rocking horse poo.

Crap... I just realised that one of my doors has the chrome surround and one doesnt... The replacement one I got, which isn't painted, has the chrome...

Ah, but BMC (unlike Leyland) cared about Minis, so the roundnoses ALL got Rotodipped. Some will be around long after the last late model Clubby has rusted into oblivion.... 8)

OK, I'll concede that your GT got Rotodipped as well... didn't help on its arse though, did it...... :P
