I just noticed the braided earth strap under the clutch housing is disconnected the longer wider end with ring end. Not sure where it should bolt on to? |

one end on engine, one end on body, not exactly sure where, but this may have been causing your car to play up a bit, ie stall |

If your earth strap isn't connected stalling is the least of your worries. The battery will earth to anything it can. This can mean your car going up in flames..... Don't drive it untill you fix it! ![]() Cheers Aaron |

The battery is earthed to the body in the boot. So the whole car is earthed except for anything insulated. The rubber mounts on the motor insulate it. So the earth for the starter has to find its way via things like the throttle cable and the choke cable. ![]() ![]() |

My brother had a Ford Galaxie and the battery earth attached to the motor. But the earth strap the the body was missing. Now because the earth attached to the engine the current through the earth strap runs the other way...... So when you had your headlights on highbeam the throttle would stick! ![]() Yes, you need the earth strap before the fire starts. ![]() |
