For a cooper s 7.5" brake setup, which is better for everyday use?

I use black on my Moke with a booster and greens on my LS without a booster and I prefer the greens anytime, even when cold they still work well.. Both cars have 8.4" discs.

It really does depend on your driving style and the car. On a willing 1275+ it doesnt take much at all to warm the greenstuffs up and then they are great - but blackstuffs are supposed to be ok too and are 50% cheaper - they just start giving in earlier when hot.

I can smell the brakes every night when getting out of the car and I'm not know to drive like a boy racer, so I dont risk going down to blackstuffs.

for a road car, blackstuffs.. they're cheaper and you wont overheat them during normal use..

however if you are hooning around most of the time, then i'd go for greenstuffs

in any case, i wouldnt use standard pads.

We run Blackstuffs on the wife's car and Greens on mine. Both running S brakes.
Blacks are great for general fanging around. But I had no trouble making them give up coming down Kurrajong Hill.... and I wasn't trying that hard....

Greens are good when cold, better with warmth. Hard to make `em give up.

As the good Doctor says, greens are good when cold, better when warm. And you won't fade them out under even pretty extreme road use. I run greens for hillclimbing (standard Cooper 'S' discs and calipers, braided lines but no booster) and you don't get much opportunity to warm the brakes in those events. They're always progressive, no uneven pinching when cold, but they feel a bit dead with less bite on the first application. After that they're almost as good as the old DS11 asbestos stuff (our more mature readers may recall these )
