G'day guys, just wndering if anyone knows the whereabouts of Linacre motors and where they used to be? ive got this badge that i picked up and im going to refurbish, i assume its off the numberplate surround that used to be put on new cars when sold from the dealer? any help appreciated!

Linacre Motors at Brighton Beach Melbourne is listed in the BMC dealers list of 1966. That is all I know. Looking at the map there is a Linacre Rd Brighton so the dealer may be named after the road or locality. |

Thanx guys, thankyou very much for the info, as i said earlier, i did try google, although it was telling me much. And i even did a search for bmc dealer lists! thanx again, now just to decide wether or not to sell this badge

I live in Brighton and my Grandfather was very close mates with a Jack Linacre who lived in Sandringham. Both my Grandfather and his brother were into cars and racing in their time so it's quite possible there's a connection. I might ask my Dad since if i wanted to ask Grandpa i would have had to do it early last year.

The parents are in central Australia at the moment... i tried to call them the other day and the mobile is well out of range. They'll call me when they get close to a town i'm sure. Should be a couple of days. |
