Ive got a Osram (Made in Slovenia) Alternator that puts out 55 Amps i think. Dunno if the country that it was made in still exists........ Im going to strip it and send the case n pulley away to be chromed but just wondering if there are any off the shelf, chromed alternators available for an A Series that put out a decent amount of current, well 55 Amps or more? |

Late rover mini alternators were 65 amps I think. Might be cheaper to buy a new chrome alternator. I got a quote on getting one done.....it was a lot. ![]() |

Unless you did something soon you could be pushing it to have something by then. Maybe you could paint the alternator gloss black like your radiator? ![]() |

Yeah i know im pushing it!!!! Something that ive been meaning to do for about the last 3yrs that the car has been on the rd...... The radiator is 2pac black, im thinking that getting the case n pulley chromed mite be a lot simpler then sourcing a newy..... |

Surely there's a hot rod parts supplier with a chrome alternator that could be adapted to fit the A series block? |

U would think so..... But being up here in Cairns, i mite as well be at Ayers Rock. We dont even have any chroming companys nearby. Id say Brisbane would be the nearest, that i know of......? Hot Rod Shop???? No 1 up here would even know wat those words mean. |

Theres a guy somewhere round my area of the country that does bead blasting or whatever, but he uses some mixture of something instead of the normal beads or soda. Anyway aluminium parts come up incredibly clean and shiny like you wouldn't believe. Maybe look into just getting the aluminium polished? (Just cause it might be a bit quicker than chroming). ![]() |
