are fuel filter fuels filters? i mean like can i use an efi metal one on a non efi car?

i would like to put a filter under the car befor the pump and was having a look at them in supercheap, they have nice little metal efi filters but wasnt sure if it would be ok.
dad seems to think the difference is just thjat they are stronger to cope with the added pressure?

I doubt if a "regular" fuel pump would have enough preasure to push fuel through an efi filter.

The last time I changed one I couldn't blow air through the filter - but the car was still running.

no doubts here - your carby type pump does not have the pressure to push the fuel through an efi filter. put one of those on and you might as well have disconnected the hose and sealed it with a bolt and a hose clamp.

and you want to have it sucking fuel from the tank before it gets to the pump.

forget it and stick with a filter between the pump and the carb. the pump will have some gauze over its inlet which will take out the big crud that could damage it, then the filter takes out the stuff that will block carb jets.

cheers
michael

I have a Ford EA one on Barney, the little Facet electronic square pump has no probs at all sucking thru it and feeding the twin HS4s on his 1293. 8)
These filters (and a Commodore one which is similar) have heaps of filter area, so there is little pressure drop at a Mini's flow rate.
