Post subject:  f*%cking clutch master pressure pipe

After spending 2 hrs yesterday with some pliers, and then 3 hrs today with 2 trips to bunnings (1st for a small long hole punch, then for a small loooong drill bit) and then finally removing the f*6cuking split pin so that I could get the clevis pin out (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD USE R CLIPS PEOPLE), I went under the bonnet and started to undo the pressure line.

Of course it looked 300 years old and didn't want to budge without twisting the pressure pipe with it so I wd40'd it and waited a bit and then gently put some pliers onto the pipe and proceeded to undo the nut, still the little bastard snapped clean off .

Gunna spend what's left of the afternoon rekitting the clutch master, but anyone had this happen to them? I've been told to check out a few brake places as apparently they'll make the pipe up for me (?). Other then that what are the chances of me finding one off another cylinder? (i'd ring around but everything's closed at this hour).

I'm sort of glad it snapped though, if the pipe was that badly rusted onto the bolt it'll be good to fit it with something clean.

Had pretty much the same, got the brake'n'clutch place to make up a new one for about $20. He made it about an inch longer just to make it easier to fit.

Next time I'm going for a braided hose

Cool that sounds the go'er.

Was a braided one much more expensive? Also was it a day job or they do it on the spot?

He said a braided one would have been about $40
(only told me that after he'd already made up the pipe)

Did it on the spot - bring in your dead sample :)

DO you mean the metal one between the clutch master cylinder and the flexible hose?

I don't mind busting those as I remove them as a new bit of metal pipe looks pretty profesional anyway. Notheing worse than a new master cylinder and a rusty bit of metal pipe to hook it up.

And they're cheap to make..

And replace the rubber hose to the slave cylinder while you are at it.

Yeah the metal one between the cylinder an the hose.

I might leave the hose to the slave cyl till I get around to kitting that.

Do as Morris 1100 has suggested...Replace the rubber hose now-not later
It slugs up from the inside(condensation),until it blocks completetly or restricts fluid from getting to the Cylinder.

Hm well it's dark now, what kind of hose is it?

Also where does this thing go? Was in the kit but isn't in the manual or in my master cylinder?
