 Post subject: door hinges

are they all the same? i.e top-bottom, left-right? I have a whole bucket full was just wondering if i could pick the best ones (less slop) and use them? or do they have to be matched up ?

All four are different - they are stamped on the bit that would sit next to the car body, as follows:- LU which is the left door, upper hinge; LL which is left door, lower hinge; RU and RL.....I'll not insult your intelligence and tell you what that stands for.

Early ones didn't give you a clue to location....just a part number which then gave you a location :?

Bah- I never look at the codes, they are not there all the time as Mick says.
The top ones are angled in quite steeply, bottom ones are angled out slightly.

I once got one that had a top front bit married to a bottom rear bit... :? I binned it. :lol:

Hehe....guess I'm the lucky one coz I've only ever seem 'em with LU etc stamped on, mind you, I've not seen tons of them like some of you guys. Umm, does that make me lucky or unlucky??

But the hinges on the Leylands should feel gifted as they are also the same ones used on Roundies :wink: :lol:
