Post subject: | Turning indicator flashers in binnacle question |
Hi, There's a question that's been bugging me for some time so I'll just go and ask it. Which minis from Australia had side indicator flashers in the binnacle as opposed to using the light in the speedometer? I'm not sure if this is true, but it appears this is a feature specific to Aussie minis. However, in the many pictures I have seen from Aussie minis, I do note that some people do use the flasher(s) in the speedometer while others have them on the binnacle. I have a Mini K with the binnacle flashers and my speedometer is busted. However, I realize that all the new Smiths mini speedometers available today all have the flashers on them- are there any more Smiths speedometers available without the flashers so that they look correct in a binnacle with flashers? |

NONE used the flashers in the speedo here in Oz.. The lights were put in binnacle to comply with Oz registration rules. The cars that had this setup were Mini-K, 998 Minimatic from `69 on, and Mk2 1275S. Earlier cars (Mk 1 S, Mini Deluxe, etc) had it on the end of the trafficator switch. If speedo has those 2 lights in, it is UK made, the Mini-K, Minimatic and Mk2 S here all used Oz made speedos without those lights. ![]() |
