hi my name is steve, i am a cabinet maker in sydney and just got myself a19 65 deluxe mini.
would love to learn a lot more about it starting with which manual i should be buying

Hi Steve, welcome to the madhouse. :D

I have found the best book for learning the inside and out is a big red BMC one,
I also have a second one similar, but it relies on the first and then builds up from there.

Another I have heard is good is a big black Leyland book, though I don't have it and
can't compare. If it's like the BMC one, covering the later cars as well,
its the book to have, as not too many minis now are ,completely original anymore.

I'm sure we'd all like to see photos of your car as well. 8)

The Scientific Publications/Gregorys No 64 Mini manual has all you want- the right wiring diagrams for an Oz Mini Deluxe, and info on Oz windup window doors such as you have.

These details are sadly missing from many other manuals, including the Leyland Comprehensive Manual (Black Book).
It does have some other virtues- like the FULL Minimatic transmission repair info. :wink:

yep as per above and also get yourself tbe the David Vizard books after that.

but other wise use search in Ausmini and you will find almost everything...other than that....put a BBQ and 2 cases of beer on and you will be amazed what you can recieve...Even an engine change if ya lucky :wink:

Ask questions is always a great way to learn and meet new frinds 8)

Edit..also a good idea if ya let us know where you are

i dont think you can learn alot from a workshop manual, though you'll need them if you want to do work on the car.

i'd start with the "readers digest book of the car"
and then go onto the vizard books as they truly are a gold mine of information.

It's a long lonely road if you're not mechanically inclined or have a mate who is :).

But oh so worth it in the end when you have a cheapish car to run with money better spent on better parts and doing it yourself to save labour costs (and knowing you did it properly!)

David Visards "Tuning the A series Engine" is also a good one,,, altho i don`t totally agree with "Everything" he types, but most of it is good.
