Post subject: | 2 Qs -- A) Best rocker cover? and B) Why my stick loose? |
A) The head on my 1430cc has the extra studs. Now the rocker cover I have leaks, even when a brand new gasket is used. Cono at Minicraft mentioned something about "it's a good rocker cover, but not with the extra studs". So the Q is, what's the best, standard nice chromy rocker cover to use? B) My gear selector stick is loose. It's really wobbly, and because of it's wobbliness, vibrates and buzzes loudly as the car rumbles along (annoying? YES!). I have no problem changing/selecting gear what-so-ever, in fact, it's incredibly smooth. Why is it so loose? How can I fix it? ----- POSSIBLE ANSWER: It doesnt have a boot on it. |

If it's a rod change the thing on the bottom (flange? or whatever it's called) might be gone. You can buy kits for them; just need a hole punch and some patience. Shard |

Actually, I might need a new boot for the gear stick. <EDIT> On second thoughts, it doesn't even have one on there at the moment! I thought something looked funny! |

Any alloy rocker cover is better than the bent tin ones. ![]() Why- because they are FLAT. Neither of mine ever leak. re the gearstick what box is it- if it's remote, the nylon ring may be worn out so the spring cannot do its job.. |
