Would anyone be able to tell me roughly how much it might cost to set up a supercharger on a Mini?? |

But don't just stick it on a standard or worn motor and expect it to last a long time , PM some of the people on here who'd done them or ask the maker of the kit ( 92 ?) what they'd suggest . I'm thinking of having a go with a supercharger myself on a fully rebuilt , never started 1100 I have but I think I'll start off with a refreshed motor and work on getting it reliable before modifying the new motor to suit . |

sports850, that is why I am asking now as I have just put a new motor in the LS, it's only done 160klms so far.. Someone offered me a complete small turbo for $300.00 but not sure about having a turbo under the bonnet tho???? |

Im looking into the Link Automotive Supercharger kit, which uses all new parts, It runs the Opcon Autorotor. The kit itself is $5k, that includes huffer, 1 3/4in carb, manifold, pulleys n all the brackets to do the job. I am budgeting on spending 10k, that will include the Kit plus a full rebuild on my 1330cc, the box n the diff. My motor has only done 12,000 klms but i need to lower the compression a lot, and strap the centre main bearing cap. The last thing u want is to screw some boost into ya motor, have the diff sh*t itself n then destroy ya motor n box....... |

Go the turbo Smokie. You've got the skills to make your own manifold, and the turbo will outperform the supercharger for both power & economy ![]() So long as your new motor is not super high compression - read kazjim's posts on his turbo monster |

I reckon 92's SC12 kit is the ducks nuts - the Link one is refined and nice, but bang for your bucks isn't worth it |

A mate of mine bought a turbo from a Subaru Forester GT in perfect nick for $56 of ebay. Nobody wants them for their 2 litre Subies but they would be great on a 1300cc mini. $56 plus postage!! I kid you not. But a 3 bearing crank, 5 port head and 4 speed box for $10k, no thanks... Bring on the conversion. M |
