ok people, quick question, the screw on oil filter head, what sort of metal is it made of? as mine has a crack around the bolt hole and pisses oil out in a nice steady stream. just wondering if there is any way of welding it up or something?

Even if you could remove all traces of oil, it's a crappy aluminium/zinc alloy that is a PITA to weld. Just get another one, it'd be cheaper than welding your one up would be anyway.

You could try some epoxy metal filler (Devcon or Knead-it)
Just make sure it is oil resistant & clean it well first.

To clean the oil out of the crack you need to use Brakecleen or a similar solvent, otherwise the epoxy won't stick well.
