OK all you guys who think they know this, what is the part number for a baulk ring but wait not just the normal steel one but the brass type from the really early mini gearboxes and who knows if they are still available and how much are they?

not looking for the 22G2033 part number or what ever it is must be full brass type kev you know what im talking about.

I do know those ones you mean. Pretty sure they are NLA now, unless KC or someone in UK has a hoard..
I could use some too, I have a 4 synchro SCCR gearset that is NOT molycoated on the gears' cone faces.

C-22A1741 is the part number for the current steel so-called competition one, available from MiniMania in US.
No idea if this is the old competition bronze ring number, or not.

Hi Jai,
My '65 Cooper parts book CD-R lists 2 x 22G220 and 2 x 8G743. Hope that helps.

Regards
Al

has any one got a picture of these things as there is no part number and htey look quite a bit fatter around the outside thanstandard baulk rings, inside diameter is the same and most other measure ments are the same they just are chunkier.
any ideas.

Hey Jai, just reread your first post- are U talking about the old CONE synchro rings?
They are not baulk rings as used in boxes 63 on.. They are a brass ring, pressed onto the gear and punched into 6 holes to retain them, then they are machined to match the synchro sleeve.
The sleeve has 6 balls and springs, and a taper to match the cone.
They were used in MM series 2 and also MM 1000 I think. Minis in Oz and UK used them up to 1962. THEY WERE CRAP.

<edit> may have p/no for these in my old Mini shop manual, will look later tonite.

The brass/bronze baulk ring AFAIK was the competition baulk ring, a while back when out here KC said they are NLA, but he might have a few...

My mIni spares special tunning cat notes them as C-22A1740 bronze alloy not brass

I believe they are no longer available unless you get NOS

and yes they are a lot wider on the collar than the steel ones

Beware the Mini Spares 'bronze' competition items, they were never a success, I built a box with them back in the mini se7en days, they were supplied as the latest you beaut item, but only lasted a couple of races!

Not good!
