Hi All,

as you may now i got some results i am pretty happy with on the Dyno at MDU.
as you can see from the teriffic GR tune each run was smooth and pretty much spot on, but do you think i could get anymore power if it was a little leaner at the top end? unfortunately i do not know what RPM max power was at but i think it was around the 6500 mark.

grant i would not run it any leaner then that, especially without an intercooler. Mine ran around 14 afr off boost and down to 11 afr on full boost at 7000rpm.

Next step i would be looking at getting the intake temps down, either intercooler, air to air, water to air, water injection is also an option. Is your exhaust mani heat wrapped? that would aslo help as it so close to the inlet mani.

~107HP from an 850?? And you want more??

Geez man... I think thats an awesome number.
If you want more, put up exact details of the motor, gearbox, tyre pressures :) and stuff and maybe we can offer info.

Can you get more HP ?? Prolly, but how long is a piece of string??
It depends on many things, intake, exhaust, engine bits, compression, boost, etc.

Not having a go at you at all, by the way, but more info needed before anyone can REALLY help.

Peter.

Hey Brad,

yeah cooler will be on in a few weeks time, i finally have the cash, i was hoping to have it done for MDU but i ran out of time. with this latest engine build the temps are much better all round, before i could not even touch the plenum after driving for 5 mins or so, now after ahard thrash i can hold it, straight after it came of the dyno i could hold it but a cooler will be on before xmas.

Peter,

sorry i thought most people would not the spec as i did an engine build thread back at the begining of the year.
1293 A+, 940 head with MK1 valves double springs, 1.5 rockers, RE13T cam, big chambers, 7.6:1 comp, forged omega pistons, S rods, ARP bolts, ARP head studs, Kent Vernier cam gears, elec dizzy, 15 psi boost but willing to vary, Garret T25, slightly modded inlet and exhaust manifolds, heat wrapped exh man. all blue printed and balanced.
all built by myself and dyno tuned by the Legendary GR.

wont bother going on about the box.

Is the head stock? If so, get some serious porting done.
Get an intake manifold that REALLY flows well... should see your HP increase.

Peter.

GR has danced inside the head, it's a good 'un.

Grant, I'd bung it on MRC's dyno- I don't believe the MDU run was consistent or accurate.
You got 170+ HP at GR's, no way there's 60+ HP loss to the wheels.

I'll organise a dyno day soon, when a few people have their QIK motors built and installed.

Hey all,

yeah cooler is next which i am sure it will make a decent difference.

Miniwilliams has 200+ at the crank, so i got about 30 or so to go to catch him.

I am keen for another dyno day at MRC but i do want to have the cooler on before hand.

yeah head has very big ports maybe even too big GR only did my chambers and did not want to fo anymore to the ports.

I know i will be able to get more HP with some more mods but just getti g a few opinoins of what to try next.

thanks

Grant

I reckon that I would make sure that the HP you have is usable, highest output does not make it the fastest except in a straight line, the 2 honda powered cars at MDU the one with the least HP is the lap record holder at Wakefield, if it is just a HP thing screw the boost untill it goes bang and then you will know but if it is to make a very rapid reliable car add the intercooler and leave it alone, you will have enough fun with what you have
