Ok here goes it, I bought this 62 cooper back in 97 off my then school art teacher. IT was my first mini. ![]() ![]() ![]() Got it home and got a battery, fuel, Start Ya Barstard, etc. Go it going after it had been sitting for afew idle years. Motor going but no brakes it was driven around the house a bit ( 2 Acre). Driven into the shed and then began to Strip her ![]() When the dust cleared all that was left was a bare shell and a pile of parts (Should have stoped before the loom I think) Well a milestone was reached today as I finally painted it ![]() ![]() Body was Sandblasted so Everywhere needed a coat. Colour is its Original Cherry Red/Old English Gray(roof still to be done, soon..) ![]() ![]() ![]() At times it felt impossible But now theres paint on it I can feel the faith. reasemble to begin shortly. Most likely to get the 998 in my current toy, ![]() have to Freshen the gear box first though, going to run its Cooper S discs and twin 1 1/4 su's Just have to find the wiring loom to start things....... P.S. happy birthday Bro. |

I just looked again and it dosnt have the brake cut outs on the lower section of the panel like the later minis had. So that part of it is early mini.... But the upper section of the panel where the grille would be, to the right of the pic, it has that cut out section, and where the moustache would be on the left there is also a hole in the panel..... Im sure the panel i got from Mini Spares which was wrapped in Rover packaging had all those features. It was different to my original front apron???? |

HI, The front apron was replaced as it was rusted but the early ones have the lower front corners full not cut out (as far as I know) and the new panel was modified to look like the old one. Rear Beaver was also replaced but the rest is 63, got to love the big numberplate boots. |

Ah ha.....! I was right. Yeah the early minis had the full lower panel. Then they thought they could cool the brakes a little better by cutting that small section out of the panel. Not sure when that started? Mines 67 and has the cut outs. |

Have the dash rails been coated yet? Or is it the light that makes em look unpainted? |

Vassy runs the bumper now and the bonnet hangs on my wall (since last week) as she now lives outside ![]() |

Why is that? They'll be covered with black vinyl won't they? Loook magic, makes me feel like stripping my one down again and re-painting it.. |
