Hey All, Looking at a bit of an upgrade on the old suspension. I've seen a few threads talk about KYB, Koni, Spax and GAZ, but nothing really about GMAX. I've seen them around for cheap and was just wondering if there was a reason for that ![]() What are people suggestions for a "fast road" type set up? Currently I have standard dry suspension. Looking to spend around $1500-$2000, but obviously less if I can get the same performance ![]() The suspension is feeling a bit left out I think, I've done upgrades on just about everything else ![]() Cheers. |

I've heard Bilstiens get alot of fade over bumpy/rough surfaces and are more suited to a race track than the Third World windy roads I find so fun to drive ![]() |

I have Bilstein's though the car hasn't been on the road with them yet. I bought them direct from the guys who make them here for <$750, last price i got from Steve when i was looking was $950 ![]() The guys there reckon they start dampening within 1mm of movement and that Koni's generally start within 3-4mm. They can be fully rebuilt and they will also regas them for whatever application you need. |

Hahaha... So they are not all they're cracked up to be? How about GMAX, has anyone used these, or got an opinion on them? I just want to know why they are a few hundred dollars cheaper than the rest. |

Dont get me wrong, they are a good shock. 15 point adjustable, suited for a lowered mini. But on the street i think its a bit of an overkill. The were like $380 a pair. Ive never had an issue with em tho. |

Hey Mate I ran GMAX on one of my mini's. I personally think they ROCK! They kill the stock shocks that were on there. Was also runing adj. bottom arms with 1.5 deg neg camber and adj. tie bars to straighten the car up when I put the boot in coming out of a corner... I've just upgraded the shocks to GAZ adjustables... but the car's not quite on the road yet so got nothing to compare... But... I reckon if you want a cheap shock that performs really well... Give the GMAX a go... Hope that helps, Bren |

Sweet, I figured they'd be a lot better than the standard shocks in any case, just didn't know if anyone had any issues with them. Thanks for that ![]() |
