FROM THE ACT MINI CAR CLUB EMAIL GROUP: 9YaTaH says: I know this can be a problem....a friend grabbed a shell from the dump and built up a car... rego wallies would not believe him and wanted to see a Bill of Sale....in the end a Stat Dec saying the Shell had a value of $50 sufficed..... ![]() 1. Importing a Mini - Can anyone help this fella save his Mini??? From SA Minilist if you can offer some information please send him and Email! Cheers, Declan SA Mini Club -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, 7 October 2004 6:10 AM To: [email protected] Hi, I am in the final stages of emigrating from the UK to Australia with my family. I have a Mini which I would like to bring with me, I built it myself in 1988 when I was 19 she has been with me ever since. As she is far from standard, has no original reciept of sale, (as she was never sold...) and is currently half way through a rebuild I am concerned about getting valuations for import tax purposes and also getting vehicle import approval... Have any of your members done this recently? If so any advice they can offer me would be much appreciated as it would be very hard to leave her behind. Thanks in advance Dave Parsons MESSAGE 2 Hi all, this is in regards to the guy wanting to bring the mini in from th UK. Here in NSW I know they are very fussy about proof of sale. I suggest that before he worries about value etc for import duties, that he contact the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) here in NSW or the related bodies in other states to see how he will go getting it on the road. While I have seen it cause some grief for guys who cannot prove ownership in legit situations, I can actually see the bureaucratic point here in trying to make it harder for stolen vehicles to be rebirthed. Suppose a third party imported all the 'parts' and sold them all to the same person by some strange co-incidence. The parts would be purchased in Aus. Just gotta find a third party. |
