On the presumption that you have all the nuts and bolts off - including the two hidden under the front just beind where the harmonic balancer goes ???? - the yes there is one or two alloy locating pins to position and help hold the gearbox.

Tap them out with a drift orblunt screwdriver and give the gearbox a couple of whacks with a soft faced hammer. Brute force is not neccessary.

I do it with the power plant just slightly off the ground with the engine hoist. The gearbox usually falls away quite nicely. Sometimes the gasket sealant previous used goes hard and you have to wedge a screw driver in to get the gearbox to begin to separate. Be careful doing that though because if you score the face of the gearbox it will leak oil when you reassemble everything.

As well as the dozen or so small bolts holding the box onto the block, there are a couple of dowells as well that may be tight and stopping the box from coming off. DO NOT try to lever it off with a screw driver or similar item - you will damage the alloy mounting face of the gearbox. Get a soft hammer or a block of wood and tap the gearbox away from the engine block. Make doubly sure you have undone all the bolts first, there are a couple right up near the crank pulley that are easily missed.
