There are huge numbers of minis being turned into razor blades in Japanese scrap yards every day. Similarly there are huge numbers of minis turning into orange stains on people's driveways in the UK. Virtually all of these will have a set of disc brakes. Why not use them? Get your friendly local importer to get you a set, replace the pads and the discs and hey presto, great brakes. If you were in Aus, I say call Steve at Brickworx or his comic relief Will. M |

They also outbrake S brakes and 8.4" setups... I've been running them for a few years (i think) and they have never missed a beat and stop you at an insane rate of deceleration. They've been abused on the track and never complained. You are looking at about 6 times the price to get a mini equivalent...that's a lot of money if you don't have it. |

Machined down 7.9" ones work well in (only some) 10" mags, but take grinding here and there to fit, and all the pads need serious trimming or they overhang the inside of the rotor. Not as good a setup, engineer may not like..... |

Sorry. Yes there is a big price difference. I just wish there wasn't. So many minis go to the grave each year but the price of the disc assemblies doesn't seem to drop. Maybe we need a bit more competition in the import game? Where have all the companies gone that used to bring stuff in from the UK? |

Assuming they have been engineered and assuming the engineer hasn't been investigated and lost his ticket for dodgy work then insurance likes them to a point . Recently a few of the ricer boys have had their cars re-inspected in Grafton and defected because an engineer was passing what he shouldn't have in turbo steups (blow-off valve modifications) , he lost part of his ticket and all the cars he approved had to go back to an engineer and be redone . Make sure you get the brakes engineered and the engineer is reputable and has done a lot of brakes before but a lot I've spoken to won't touch brake discs that have been turned down on a lathe . |
