Post subject: | Lower Valance Grommets |
On the lower front valance, under the the front bumper there are 2 rubber grommets which cover up the front subframe bolts. Mine are just starting to show there age, 39yrs i assume? Does any 1 know if these are available new? They r not a perfect circular grommet, more so oval in shape.... |

Never knew there was supposed to be grommets there! I replaced the bolts that were there with Stainless Eye bolts for ease of towing. No need for grommets then! Matt |

British cars had towing eyes, which doubled as the front subframe bolts, so if grommets were used, it must be Australian. Al |

The jackin point grommet of Midgets and rover 2000s fit I mention this "wombat" as they will do the job Hanra wants and are available new, as will any gromit plug from clarkes rubber as they never made any specific mini one for this purpose, (dill) Steve |

As far as I know they never fitted grommets to Australian cars. As for jacking point grommets, the poms fitted these grommets to stop the salt from getting out. ![]() |

I've only been playing with Minis (on and off) since 1964, never ever seen them on new cars or old. But Clubbies need something so they don't rust out the lower valance below the holes, a very common problem. Rubber plug is a Good Idea, IMO. ![]() |
