Post subject:  Help please!!! Coooper S Discs

I'm a bit lost... I'm sellling a set of 7.5" discs, and I have had about 7 people inquire about them in the past 24 hours. It would seem that discs are a hot item at the moment!!!

My problem is I dont know how hot. How much should I be looking to get for a set?

When I bought them I was assured that they were genuine cooper S discs, but I have no way of verifying this, I dont want to sell someone discs and have them come back 6 months later telling me they aren't the real deal.

So my two problems are:

What are the distinguishing features of genuine cooper S discs

and

How much should I charge for a pair (assuming they are genuine) in very restoorable condition (that is the disc has very little rust and is straight, comes with the CVs and shafts... but will no doubt require everything rubber to be replaced and a new set of pads. Not sure if the caliper cylinder is siezed either.)

Also selling completely restored boosters...

Cooper S discs are 7-1/2" diameter x 3/8" thick (when new) and the centre hub nut is 1-5/16" hex size.
The brake pads have 2 split pins through them, with no spring clip.
Same brakes were fitted to Oz Clubman GT.

If they measure 7" diameter x 1/4" thick (when new) and have a 1-1/8" hex nut they are the earlier 997 or 998 ones.

Going price for good rebuildable S ones is $600- $1000. For the latter they would want to be REAL good.

out of 100 buyers..

100 of them would pay $600
90 of them would pay $800
10 of them would pay $1000

that's what I reckon ;)

a brand new set is $1800+

I sold a set of 8.4" disks that were ready to go on a car for $600, and they're worth $400 less than 7.5"s

A lady from Gulgong has just sold a set of 7.5s to a list member for $600. They needed some work but the sweetner was a VH44 that was tossed in because simply because it was there.

About $600 - $800 seems to be the right money for second hand unreconditioned brakes.

The Gulgong lady has a mini mad son who is currently in the army in Iraq and has other things on his mind and she has sold her house and needs to clear out the garden shed of mini bits - there is a heaps of assorted mini bits going for a $100 - no more brakes but a heap of uncatalogued stuff - any one interested ????

Knowing the buyer of the Brakes ;) I would say that many things that this lady is selling are in good restorable nick.

Mike, if you had it catalogued I am sure it would sell... I know thats tough though.

I reckon around the $600 - $1000 mark for a full set too... I got a very good deal on those Cooper S brakes though.

Whats the highest offer you have had?

Peter.

did they come with bearings and ball joints cos i order them in and none of them come with that you have to add the $'s to make them a complete set. but then again getting calipers at the moment is the hardest part.
