Post subject: | Hi Low install help |
I've been outside sctratchin my head for a while, perhaps you clever folk can help. ![]() My subframe parts are going together and I'm trying to my hi-lows in. I've put in a new (old) rubber cone to replace the old (older, crapper, flatter) cone, and want to know how to get it all together? Do I need a cone compressor? I've also greased up the knuckle joint and put the rubber seal thingy on the plastic cup, so a way of assembly allowing me not to pull them apart again would be great! Thanks. ![]() |

we talking front or rear? I haven't fitted hilos yet but will be in the next month or so, from what I understand you adjust the hilo so it's retracted enough to just slip in and then start adjusting them out till they reach the desired height? Shard |

I'm doing the front. What you mentioned would work if I used the sagged cones that came out, but with newer cones in there's little room to work with. Can a bolt with washers sustitute for a cone compressor? (subframe isn't in car) |

Yeah if you can get it tight enough. If it's close enough to fit you could try gently tapping it in. Shard |

i just did mine yesterday with new cones/hi-los/knuckles/cups and a cone compressor. i can tell you i needed an extention bar to get enough leverage to compress the cones - and that was with the hi-los fully screwed in (at the lowest setting). ill adjust them after the engine is on and they have settled give the bolt a go as if your putting in old ones it might not be as hard to compress |

I'm guessing that how to doesn't work if you're trying to do it subs in the car still? ![]() Shard |

Still would work, you just use a bolt 8 inches long instead of 4. ![]() |
