I am looking for someone to rebuild my GT motor.

Preferably in Sydney.

On face value it may not need much work.

The bores look good, with no scoring or lip around the top. I haven't measured them as yet. Motor has done 40 000 miles from new (apparently).

Head also looks pretty clean. No carbon build-up. Valves look OK, but I haven't disassembled it yet.

It wasn't running when I got the car.

It might only need deck/hone/rings/bearings/head service/assembly.

Gearbox will be taken care of by someone else.

I thought about getting GR to do it, or Ivan at Mini Spares & Repairs.

Then I thought maybe there is a company or engine builder out there that would be interested in doing it and getting some exposure in The Mini Experience magazine (as part of my ongoing Restoration feature).

If any individual of company wants to take on this job, and get some exposure for their business, please let me know.

Contact: Anton - 0401 482 347 or email [email protected]

Why not try and do it yourself and document the process? Might be more than article in it. I had a guy did that with Jag engines. Wrote a book and sold heaps. Add another string to your bow?

Been there, done that, and regretted it for AGES! :x

I am farming this one out, purely for peace of mind. :D

Forgot to say that I am content to have this motor rebuilt to stock GT specs.

Take it to Graham; He will build your motor to perfection. After he has built get him to put it on the dyno.

I think dont you guys understand what Anton is saying.
Correct me if I am wrong please Anton.

Anton (GT) is restoring his Clubman GT and the restoration is being told in pictures in words in "The Mini Eperience" magazine. Its good exposure for any of the trade people to be mentioned there.

Anton, I believe, is asking if any of the better engine engine builders around would like some generous publicity then, in exchange for that publicity, they could take on the project of building the engine for Anton.

There are a few good engine builders and I doubt "which one is the best" is the original question.

Is this right ????? Anton

Also , I think , Anton is wanting it rebuilt as close to original spec as possible , not a highly efficient and powerful racemotor . Otherwise he wouldn't be using the original pressed steel chokers , I mean extractors

I'm sure GR can build it to stock specs, and still extract great power and RELIABILITY - blueprinted ;)

but I see what you're saying too Anton - maybe Greig would be in to do it? I see his G/F's Matic is in the next mag.... drooooll (I mean the mini, not the G/F, though she's nice too)

Mike is correct.

I have officially put it out there that if any company or individual wants to jump onboard and assist with this restoration, then here is their chance.

There will be good exposure in a fantastic publication.

I don't expect freebies. Something that works both ways would be the ultimate.

Sodablast got some pretty good exposure, and they were champions to deal with. My trimmer will get his turn soon, and he too is a fantastic guy.

If there is no interest from an engine builder, I will put a clapped out 850 into it.... :P
