I currently hate whoever owned my mini previously.........

Sure he was a nice bloke, but if he restored this mini, he did a REALLY shite job.....

Rather than fix the floor pan properly, he simply welded over the top.......oh and did i mention his love of bog.....copious amounts of the crap everywhere...

Use this thread to loath previous owners and tell us what stupid things they did to make you want to cry

Bastard, must have previously done my mini. I swear that description is the same as mine. Floor pan welded straight over the top, shitloads of bog on the roof and many other panels.

lol i thought the same thing when we got the matic..

boot floor has rust in it, but it was underneath a 5mm (i kid you not) thick steel plate which was welded badly over it, making the boot floor almost flat, no well for the wheel.

that was just the begining...

Yer Okay Rust is easy to repair.....
Morris was collected with no smoke....I checked him on a Friday afternoon after work...and gave her a drive...yep no smoke...Just happen to pop in on Sunday morning so the engine was cold and still no smoke...Excellent we are on a winner here....NOP

Two weeks later the wiffy calls me up...Morris is the Bat mobil
Previos Owner worked for Ford (yer come on give it to me) and did the engine himself :? Let me put it this way when he was putting it back together he put gasket guw prier to the head going on. Yep he blocked number one waterwell and stuffed piston and rings...Rebuild Sod it

What about the previous owner of Marcia GAFMO..?? Ha ha ha ha... go on.. give it to me...

The previous owner of my mini was a great guy, but must have forgotten to put all the screws back on tight. One thing comes loose, then the next, then something falls off, this goes missing..... All of a sudden an earth is not earthed, the wiring goes up in smoke, the cars off the road, the car sits at mums, mum whinges and complains...

OK I am rambling now.

when i bought my first project mini about 3 years ago (65 Deluxe), the guy told me that he'd repaired most of the rust and rebuilt the engine and all it needed to be re-registered was replacing some trim and fix the brakes. Lucky it was fairly cheap, turns out he'd 'fixed' only some of the rust (with silastic  ), and the rebuilt engine had chunks missing from one of the pistons and the bores were glazed too. I got as far as stripping it back to a bare shell before deciding it was beyond repair and its sat around for the last couple of years. Its complete rubbish and is going to end up with the back turned into a couch and the front i've sold for $50. I haven't spoken to the guy since i took the car - he lives in this country town not far from my in-laws. He told me at the time i should try to keep it original and not put 'go fast' bits on as it will be worth more that way  I was going to drop in and see him some time in my cooper s and tell him his car's now a replica S (he didn't seem to know much about cooper's, so there's no way he'd be able to tell its not his) but i think it'd be more satisfying to show him pics of the lounge chair that used to be his junk mini

my previous owner looked after the mechanicals well lots of rust comming through now but 1200 dollars and it looks good and has been used as my work car for about 40000kms with no real probs prob spent 400 on it
UNLIKE my other which we are still sorting out spent 6 grand plus lol but yeah thats a mini i quess
ONE THING i will tell you guys this is specially for first times FIND A MINI MECHANIC with a good rep
First mini i did spent lots on it getting engine rebuilt and what not full recon all over with a normal mechanic IT cost Heaps and was pretty much crap

FIND a Good one and stick with them i found Matt Read and havent looked back yet
Its the ability to take your car somewhere and pay to get it fixed and now its fixed unlike others i have experienced

Finally got the clubby home today and sorting out whats in it. the bonnet gave me a good laugh, and solved the question of why the hole was in it. found this scoop in the bottom of the car amongst all sorts of treasures.
