i was talking to someone today about minis, it turns out this
person ownes a BMW MINI, this person was raving about the car
and how wonderful it is blah blah.. i dont have anything
impaticular against the new cars, but don't consider them the
genuine article.

anyways, this person thought she was driving a reincarnation of
her 850 she owned two life times ago, and when i said that i own two clubmans
this person turned to me and said, "yuck a clubman they arent
a real mini, they are an insult to minis" (well not exactly that but pretty damn
close  )..... now how does that compute, a MINI owner telling me that
clubmans are a peice of crap and not a real mini when she is driving a BMW
anything but a real mini...how rude, clubmans rule and this person is just weired, :!:

Just tell her that your car was built in the factory that built the real minis and that her car was built in the factory that built the Morris Marina!

Mate you cant help some people being ignorant. Whether we like it or not the new mini is a mini. It may not have the character nor the race history of the old ones but regardless of who makes it now it does make a practical cruiser and we have to move with the times. Would I own one? Hell yeh. Rather that than many other small cars available. People need to appreciate the cars for what they are despite your personal preference for body shape or year of manufacture. At the very least you have to thank the arrival of her mini for making yours worth more money. Cheers G.

We clubbie lovers have had to put up with that crap since they were created. And beieve me it is not isolated to only Bini owners. I have had it from more than one classic roundie purist.

Some ppls are so far up their own backsides they will just never see anything but their own blinkered view of the world. My opinion - their not worth bothering with, there are plenty of others who will recognise the value that you place in your car.

If you think it is bad owning a Clubman then you should try owning a Morris 1100!

i agree to all.

don't misunderstand, i too think that the MINI is a decent small
car, and if i was rich would more than likely buy one,
but what shits me is this person thinking her MINI was more mini
than mine, just a case of injured ego i guess

Long live the mighty clubman 8) :!:

being a mini owner and owning both round and square i think you will have to rethink what you said weetbix ...... the bini is made in the same plant that the last of the real mini's come out of .... sorry to hurt ya feelings but hey they still have the same dodgy workmanship a useless boot so why not just mod it frow some sliding windows in it for the old dear remove the electric power steer and all the other lectrics and replace it all with lucus gear and then tell her it is a REAL mini lol

I tell you what though...I love the BINI...you know why....?

Because it has dulled the anti-clubby brigade. Most Mini enthusiasts dislike the BINI.....4 years ago and beyond it was the Clubby

Thanks BMW !! :P

if anyone says anything about clubmans when im on the road, ill just say ok, then lets race, that will wipe the smile of them very quickly.

clubmans are minis, just have a heap more room in the engine bay, and ask any roundie lover and they will be jealous.

13sec.... couldn't agree more........ as long as it maintains the "mini" shape i don't really care and to add to your point... i have seen a hell of a lot of heavily modified clubmans that i would happily park in my garage....this coming from a roundy owner :D

PS: i "pity the fool" who tries to challenge u at the all important traffic light drags......

The common perception is "ewww" clubman. Even my wife says "Oh, don't like those flat front ones". I personally have nothing against them and hope that one day I will own one with a ph@t donk in it. So i say, it's a matter of education.

The lady that owns the Bini and says that clubmans are not real minis, I just laughed  Ignorance is bliss sometimes, but it is our duty as mini owners of all sorts to educate the masses. Preach the good word of minis to all!!!

Remember "On the 7th day, god created Minis" and more importantly "All minis were made equal, some just have more rust than others"

Speaking of drag... want to organise a session down at easter creek?? just for laughs! It'll be fun!!!
