I was surfing the net looking for picture of mini cabriolet’s but couldn’t find the ones I was looking for does anyone have any pics of them with the hard top over where the rear seat use to be? (If you know what I mean, not a soft top)

So you are after a hard top cabriolet mini.
I believe it's called a sedan.

Alternately, they are reffered to as speedsters, maybe that can help?
:D

Yeah.... "speedster" or "roadster".

There are heaps on the net..... but you need to stumble into them rather than find them easily. Most just appear in those UK and German car show photo collections.

I can remember a few being hidden in "London To Brighton" and "Minis In The Park" photo galleries..... so try looking thru those first.

Some other things that spring to mind....

-RallySpotReplicas (.co.uk ???) have pictures of their conversion.
-A guy called Viku in the Netherlands has pics of his creation.... search under his name

I've got a cabriolet and I think it shouldnt be that hard as I can just make a hard cover for the rear and even make it removable if I plan to have people sitting at the back.
Maybe fiberglass....I'm getting ideas here hmmmm

The hardest bit is turning the sedan into a STRONG roadster to begin with (without roll hoops and whatever). But I guess, if you have the $$, somebody else could do it all for ya....

I just picked up the latest Mini World magazine,
there is a very nice V8 cabriolet speedster in there I'd quite happily own. 8)

dont even ask about the legal side of things, but this has has $2500Nz spent on streingthening. if its not strong enough, ill have to weld the doors shut. not quite a speedster as it has 4 seats and isint filled in at the back.

$2500NZ is about the right price for that kinda job. (not including engineering costs)

I had copies of a few UK conversion plans (Lamm, SportsReplicas, and some others).... they put back so much steel in the strengthening that it makes the car weigh the same as a sedan again (if not slightly more)

Did you get any kind of bracing fabricated into the window upright????

Looks similar in places to the way my roadster project was heading...

sc850 it will indeed be very similar to your plans, previous owners $$$ :D nothing in the pillares YET, but there will need to be some extra streingth there, although saying that, its very very stiff at the moment, ill probably brace the b-pillars backwards, and replace the inside panels below the rear windows with thick plate, and plate the parcel shelf as it needs to extend to the outer panels.
time will tell
