Anyone legally fitted these? What's involved and how did you do it? I had an idea of cutting out the mounts from the centre of the clubby parcel shelf, and welding them in on the side. Then bolting retractables to this mount....... ![]() |

dont worrie about it, you will never be sitting in the back ![]() I think if you do it you will need to get it passed by an engineer to be legal. I thought i may have to put them in mine but engineer said just the fronts would be fine. |

i think it would be a difficult job Anton, and after the effort youve put into JAM, i think maybe putting retractable seat belts in the back may take the interior look down a bit. ![]() it may look a bit dodgy....(then again, you wouldn't do anything that looks dodgy, so if you pull it off well it may look cool, but how far do you want to stray from originality, i know you have kids so that is a good reason to put them in, but i think it may look weired...) of course thats just my opinion. ![]() |

beaut retractable seat belts could have the reel mounted on the rear wall in the boot you'd have to cut out a slit on the parcel shelf to feed the belt through |

I've seen Toyota? rear belts with the reels mounted on top of the rear tray. If you have rear static belts now (Clubbie) they would probably bolt right in there. |

How are they fitted in the pommie import mini's? |

Pommie later cars have the top attachments in the C pillar. It's got bracing in there, unlike all of the Oz ones. That's why Oz Clubbies have that weird belt setup with the top anchor in middle part of (reinforced) rear shelf. ![]() |

![]() Do what I do. Make it out of bounds.. detracts from power to weight ratio to have rear passengers. ![]() Gotta keep the weight down to outdrag the ricers.. ![]() |

Pommie imports are as Kev said with the retractor mechanism in the rear side pocket. This is not allowed here and the shoulder strap has go to the centre of the back seat with slits in the parcel shelf and retractors in the boot. |

84 Telstars and 84 Geminis both had the retractor reels bolted onto the top of the back shelf. They will probably bolt into a Clubby if you swap them to the opposite sides. There is no problem with fitting retractable seat belts (front or rear) if they bolt in and are of the same ADR standard or greater than the original belts. (they should have an ADR compliance tag on them after 73 or 74). You only need an engineer's certificate if you start modifying the body to fit them or adding extra mounting points. You can get retractables for the front now (new) that bolt straight into round nose Minis. |
