Post subject: | Starting Issue |
I'm having an issue with starting with the mini it starts after a few tries it seems like the battery is very weak so what I did is took the battery off charged it overnight and put it back in to test. Same issue, then I swap the battery from my datto ute to the mini and the mini battery to the ute and guess what same issue. The ute starts 1st click with the mini battery. Checked the battery cable and they are fine. If I put my portable jump starter the mini starts no problem so I'm kinda confused why its acting like the battery is weak but its not. Note: the battery in the ute is quite new. |

Where are you connecting the portable jump starter to? When you say the cables are fine what have you checked exactly? Sounds like not enough power getting to the starter motor or something. |

May be your starter motor requires new brushes ($18.00 from an auto spark and an hour of your time), or the connections to the starter from the battery need some attention. Check the battery connections and cable terminations are nice and solid. If any connections in the boot or under bonnet are warm after trying to start they will need some attention. Also check the solenoid as it may be failing. Also check both of your ground straps on the engine and the battery for nice clean and tight connection to the body. But apart from that you may need some new brushes in the starter motor. If one or more of these are worn out, it doesn't allow full current to be circulated through the motor windings seeming like a flat battery. |

Could be that it's over advanced, so it's kicking back during starting. Check ignition timing.... ![]() |

The started could be poling, so may need a rebuild, this will cause it to draw more current. |
