Post subject:  MDU Dyno Thanks

Hey All

I've finally recovered enough from the weekend to have a quick look here.
There's a million threads covering this already, and rather than going through and answering them all, I'll just say my piece here.

Firstly, Thanks to all of the competitors who had a go on the Dyno. I know we stuffed a few people around with running orders etc, and everyone was really patient about it and great.

Secondly, Thanks to Rae Witcombe, Joan Vaughan, Alan & Shirley Hagarty, Grant & Loray Freeman, Chris Zerial and all the others who made this show happen (I'm sure I've missed someone - shoot me later I didn't mean to!!). Thanks also go to Dean (Baracade/BIGBAD) who not only had one of the biggest drawcards on the day, but did help me quite a bit behind the scenes including organising the awesome trophies we had on offer.

I still remember the committee meeting where I brought up the idea of having the Dyno out there. While I got a few "that will never work" comments, most people although apprehensive, let me do my thing and organise it. I was really hoping to break even, or even turn at least a small profit just to prove it was all worthwhile, but we fell just short. The best thing about it though is that none of the committee care now - they were so impressed with the crowds we got and the interest it generated. 8)

It's hard to please everyone when you're organising a big event, but I think for the most part, I think more people left with a smile on their face than not. I'm glad everyone had a great time.

Thanks for all the kind words and pats on the back I have received. I've had a few phone calls last night and this morning and it's that kind of support that keeps us going when organising these sort of things. It's what the car club movement is all about.

Last but definitely not least, Thanks to Brad and the Boys from Blue Mountains Fuel Injection (aka Katoomba Performance Centre). They bent over backwards to make the event happen, and worked their rings out over the entire weekend to ensure it's success. Pats on the back all 'round.

Well done Bob and crew.

I really enjoyed the Dyno comp. Going by the crowds that gathered to watch a success all round I'd say.

Thanks for your efforts Bob.

When you get a chance, are you intending to publish the results here?

Sorry - Yeah - will definitely do that. I'm hoping to get a chance to do it tonight or tomorrow. I have to do a bit around the house (paining/concreting etc) before I fly out to Perth on Wednesday. I've been a little absent of late - can't think why!! If you don't see them in the next day or so, they will DEFINITELY be up first order of business when I get back which is next Tuesday. I haven't even unpacked my car yet let alone gone through all the Dyno Sheets!!

Well done on the dyno thing, i thought it was going to be a bit of a wank, but i will eat humble pie on this one. Big bad is a fat bit of gear, i can't belive to grunt that car has.

Yes you did Bob - it was a good show.
I had a long talk with the guy in the blue short from Kat Perf and i have made a tentative booking to have my mini dyno'ed - that is properly set up.

katoomba is easy for me relatively as compared to Dubbo where the other closest dyno is. I built the 1310 motor out of bits fleabayed from all over the world literally and threw on a HIF44 mini metro carby without any regard for the fuel flow. It drives fine and its quick, real quick, but I have a feeling it runs lean at the top end and that is one of the reasons I trailered it down rather than drive it.

Kat Perf reckons about $250 - $300 to have the motor running very sweetly and properly with that including parts. That ound good to me and that would not have happened if I was was not impressed with brad and the boy's knowledge and work ethic.

They were a good choice Bob and they did huve up to a hundred people standing around for most of the day.

I'm not very good at estimating crowds, but I reckon there had to be well over 100 if not 200 people around when the Hybrids went on the rollers - I never anticipated that much support and interest. It was that and hearing the people cheering that made the effort worthwhile 8)

Bob, I still remember the day you emailed me about the idea for the dyno.

You have known my opinion of it from day one, and I will say with no
reservations that it was the success story of MDU.

The cars and show were great, but tehn again i believe that they were
always going to be.

The dyno was way out in left field in terms of organisation, but you came to the
party in a fantastioc way and created a show stopper. Great work mate :D
