Anyone got tips for attaching the bonnet (by one person?) of a 68 deluxe? |

Put a small socket into a drill with the slip clutch on a low number. Make the minute adjustments, and tighten by hand. Another good way is to get another set of hands. ![]() |

Towels in the corners, the paint just chips off if you don't do this. 1/4 drive sidchrome ratchet with a 7/16 socket works a treat too and isn't too unwieldy. |

Yep Firstly draw around the brackets with a texta before you undo them so you know where they are supposed to go. Then dismantle and do what you have to Now for the reassembly - pack towels, cloths or any thing under the bonnet to hold it in roughly the right position and to stop scratches on the guards. With the bonnet stay in position, put the nuts on the bolts and tighten to just slightly less than tight (in other words, so it holds but the bonnet can be moved). Move the bonnet so that it is right with the texta outline and nip tight. Repeat this on the other side. Lower the bonnet (after removing the packing) and check for gaps along the mudguards (fender is an amplifier brand not a mudguard) and that the bonnet closes and opens. Make other fine adjustments and Bob is your mothers brother. |
