Weeeeell, I think the parts alone would be around $750ish then you throw in labour....it sounds reasonable to me....just be prepared for the "oh we found this and that worn out when we stripped her down and here's a bill for an extra 500!" Don't know if they all do it on purpose just to suck you in but it seems quite common to "bid low and watch it grow!"

try and get a shop that will give you a fixed bill i found none of the sydney would aprt from the one in Thornleigh and they did a brilliant job, guy use to work for BMC the one that does the engine's well that was 6 years ago, sorry been a while since Aus visit to mini Shops but try them |

i think it sounds reasonable for a full engine rebuild. who is doing it for you?? ive got my engine (1100s) at the moment being rebuilt by Russell engineering. hopefully i will have it done soon - don't know what the final price will be yet..... |

$1500?? Thats what my cam grind and cylinder head cost to be ported by Russel Engineering. How serious of a rebuild are you planning?? |

$1500? my cam grind is only $80!!! my head reco was $200!! but then again your car is being featured in hot 4's so i guess you have done a bit of serious work to it, mine is only mild stuff. how have you found the work through Russell Engineering. so far i am really happy with it all. im keeping my fingers crossed that he isn't going to hit me with a big bill at the end..... |

The cylinder head was shaved, heavily ported/polished and had the combustion chambers cc'd slightly, also had hardened valve seats fitted to run it on unleaded. New valve springs and valve stem seals were also fitted. I couldnt tell you the exact specs on the cam, was done to suit the head. The quality of the workmanship was very good, I havnt heard a bad comment about his work. The only down side was that it did take quite a few months to get it all done. Good things come to those who wait, I guess. |

Deffinently nothing serious just a "standard" rebuild" the quote was from a guy on the central coast called - AMC automotive - he imports mostly '89 mayfairs, and other things. |

GR I have never had a problem with at all...I Have just fitted a RE13 into day into Morris (Sue's) 1100 +60...can't wait to start her up and see how she goes...And I'll do a New Post (RE13 Cam). I'm lucky he is just down the road....But...Call first. My 2 bob's worth on G Russell |

Been getting cams ground and cylinder heads done by Graham Russell for nearly 10 years, excellent work. Even got to meet David Vizard at his shop in 1995! Steve |

Yep, GR does my stuff too, Mini Mad's 295 head and lightened flywheel are down there right now. It's going on another 1152, just like Gafmo's, only faster.... should run next week.
