i think i broke the brace that hold the remote box thingy in place. The bt under that car that the stick is attached to. It goes into gear fine in all gears except now there is heaps of play. It doesn't feel like the play is in the remote box but that the whole thing is moving Do you think this is a suitable explanation? Can you suggest something else it could be? is it a brace or part of the mechanism? Am i the worst person at describing mechanical stuff:) |

Yep possibly the worst explanation. What type of box do you have. Is it a rod change or a remote change. do you know the diference? Well basically if its a rod change you will see two rods. If it is this one then there are a couple of things to look at. Either its the rubber mounts that are on the gear shifter mechanism under the car or its the pins in the linkage that are worn. This is a kind of metal pipe thing that links the rods to the gear box. It has two pins, one on the rod and one on the box but they wear out the linkage so check them. If its a remote box then when you look under the car you will see a big alloy thing. using your words) ![]() Regardles of the type of box you should also check the bolts that secure it to the floor as one or more could have come loose. Other than that i'm not sure but hope i have helped. |

sounds like the rear mounting rubber for the remote has broken... it's a rubber mount, and they do break sometimes Karcraft calls it a "MOUNT - GEARBOX EXTENSION HOUSING -MINI" and lists it at $13.20 |

Thats no problem, go to your local exhaust place ask for 2 cotton reel mounts, replace them, easy job undo the nuts, replace & do up nuts again, getting the mounts from a muffler place is heaps cheaper than getting them from a mini parts place. Doogie |

Similar thing happened to me on the way home from MDU... One of the rubber mounts broke and everything went sloppy. Got an exhaust hanger and put a bolt through it to get me home, then replaced both the next day. A-Grade Panels in Heidelberg had them about $3 each. |
