I got my new minator 6x10s with dunlop formula R's on tonite, they look awesome! Only problem is that at the front on the disc's they stick out my my archs by about 3/8 inch or so. Not much but from looking from directly behind you can see the widest part of the tyre out, the top is just in. My rear tyres are perfect fit. I'm jsut gonna use these wheels for track and show, so I don't fear getting defected but I don't want to risk it too much. What have other people done in this situ? I can't re-do my flares easy as they are moulded into the body (last owner did that...) But I could attach a small rubber bit onto the underside of the arch that just goes far enough to be legal. Making sure it looks good tho, no dodgy crap for me, not anymore at least! |

Bought mags and tyres from 'moneysport' and yes they were dam expensive! But flares I don't know, came on car, and I kind of like the moulded look so I kept them. I had an other look, i figured my solution, just a half inch of black rubber extending from it, i saw a pic in a miniworld of a mini like that, it looked alright. Nah, I'll clean the car up and take pics at mini at the mill, not you that anyone will want to see thme but I do....hehe.... Have to re-lower the car as the passenger side wheel was rubbing so I raised the car a bit then a lot, and didn't work then. So I lowered down a bit, took the wheel off, hit the inside with a copper mallet a few times and now it fixed!! LOL! |

Whoa...what's he got? If it's the same I reckon he wouldda copied someone else. He wouldn't be the first to have minator's and formula R's and he sure don't have my archs. He's got a rover, most likely with rover archs??. Anyways mine's better as...well I don't know, Oh yeah my car is red. ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | 6 x 10s and flares |
Hi, I've got a similiar setup, 6 x 10s (miniators) and, suprise suprise, dunlop formula R's ![]() Yep, the tyres stick out. What can you do? Unless you are lacking in the negative camber department, all you can do is add some sort of material to cover the tyre, whether it be solid rubber, aluminium or plastic/fibreglass. It can't be sharp (test: run finger along it quickly). Me: I've order group 5, 3.5 inch wide rims from the UK. Not interested in mucking around with a solution (can make custom aluminium templates etc.) Incidently they cost me AU$78 for the flares and $142 for the shipping!! Still cheap, just a bitch to mail. Question - you are not running spacered drums on the back? This would be the reason they don't stick out at the rear. Mine do ![]() Good luck. |
