Post subject:  Oil pressure guage
The moke came with a busted capillary type vdo oil pressure guage. I need t replace it. I can get the VDO one again or have people have used others more sucessfully.

Has anybody successfully installed an electric sender?

So do the mini's and mokes run Electric oil pressure guages or Mechanical as standard?
I thought you could buy both now (I know you can in AutoMeter and SpecoMeter, would assume the same for VDO)

The moke had none, this is an aftermarket one plumbed into the bolt hole below the oil line to the block.

I have a VDO capillary gauge with stainless braided line. Its super accurate. The only thing i hate is that its reading in Kilopascals and not PSI

Yep - it uses a capilary line that delivers oil all the way to the gauge rather than an electrical type which uses a sender that is connected to the gauge via electrical wire only.

one of my cars had an electric VDO on it, it worked in that it told me the oil pressure as well as the capilliary one, but I prefer the look of the smiths ones...

I found it the other day when I was cleaning up. It's a can the size of an indicator flasher unit that goes in the capillary hole in the block, and the guage itself is the same size as the standard one

I guess from the posts above people have had both Elec and Mechanical working fine in their minis.
