Peter. I thought that, but I have never seen a fuel hose going through there on others twin HS2's. It's about the right diameter. Is it supposed to be bent up like that? Yes it's on the heatshield. |

it's for what I think is a small vacuum reservoir used by the vacuum advance dizzys, but not fitted to S's and GT's. You see them sometimes, a little round thingy in-line with the vacuum line |

They were only used on early cars, 850 Cooper & Deluxe, on the vac line to the dizzy. I never did rip one apart to see what it is..... ![]() |

As far as I know Kev, they are just an empty bulb, I think the idea is to act as a bit of a reservoir of vacuum as you are on and of the throttle, thus dampening any positive and negative pulses of vacuum / atmospheric pressure. Did that any make sense??? ![]() |

Yea, single on 850's was probably the most common, just off to shed, I think I have one knocking around, distributors often had screw thread on vacuum diagphagm to match metal pipe / nut with taper thingo! 997 and 998 were the twins, as S's didn't hav vac adv!! ![]() Graham ![]() |
