Hey I'm about to order a new clutch and necassery bits and bobs to fit it properly etc... so once that's done I'll finally have a gearbox able to hopefully put as much of the horses to the wheels. So yeah, to my actual question ... how much and where would I get it dyno'd. I was going to get it done when the engine was rebuilt but as the clutch was slipping badly straight after it got rebuilt I saw no point then. All this talk after MDU and other getting their engine up to scratch got me thinking what my engine might be capable of. As a second question what would you think my engine is capable of doing? hers ruff idea of what ive done -front suspension -clutch and gearbox reconditioned -head rconditioned (no porting or polishing etc) -engine rebuild/reconditioning -12x5's performance minilight style -piston set -piston rings set -timing chain -lifters -full gasket set with turbo gasket -gearshift and exhaust mounts -balanced -comp big end bearings -regrind camshaft crankshaft also done -painted block -bored from 1330 to 1360 -ram flow filter and 1 3/4 SU -plugs hoses and clamps Ignore the clutch thing that was ages ago so i'll have a borg n beck one once I get it in and order it fit it etc..... ok give me your worst guys .... how much/little HP should I get as a ball park figure. |

For your HP reading, go to a dyno shop that is accredited for Shootout by Dyno Dynamics, you can find out by visiting www.dyno.com.au and search for nearest one to you. You can read this article http://www.xspeed.com.au/tech_features.php?tech_id=19 for more info. Doing this will give you a consistent reading if you go back later and if you think they are doing something dodgy then contact Dyno Dynamics direct, they are very helpful ![]() For tuning, you are better off getting an old school tuner to tune it with an SU, I doubt many shops nowadays would know what an SU is let alone how to tune one. Hp wise, you need to provide more details of the cam spec and comp ratio for a figure. Daniel |

I'd take it to Greig Malaure (Mini Classic) for SU tuning. He's good, and has a Vane dyno. You can run it on a Dyno Dynamics later if you want, we're going to organise another ausmini shootout at MRC Castle Hill, soon! BTW even in shootout mode, these Dyno Dynamics things are not exactly all the same... so don't be surprised why HP varies around the country. They are really only good for comparing cars `on the day'. Or tuning. Too many variables.... ![]() |

Those things are good, GR has that one. Very useful on the dyno, also for going for a drive on the `road dyno'... ![]() |

Yes.... very good!!! Specially when u can have the laptop next to u while u go for a drive and see what the hell is going on!!!!! Also got the tacho wired up to it so can see at wat rpm things are happening... Then can also see gear changes when starting from stand still going through the gears. |

I simply built one of the WB02 units from Techedge. Nice pieces of kit. I've used it so far on a Pulsar GTiR, not the Cooper yet but I plan to. I got it for 199 and use a laptop and open source software to view the results: http://www.techedge.com.au/ |

No doubt there wil be a thread regarding this closer to the time. I will be ordering my clutch and pieces needed for fitting on monday so hopefully I'll have in it soon. Anyways thnaks for all the response I shall contact Greig initially once the clutch is in and get it tuined etc.. then we'll see about the ausmini dyno day. |
