If fitting a 12g295 head to an 1100, which has been on a different 1100 motor, what mods need to be made?

Thankyou

.....but, unless you deck it by .080" or so, the C/R will be too low.
They were used on 1098 Mk2A Sprites, and MG1100s, but these all had way less piston dish.
Their C/R stock with the 295 was 8.9:1 I think.

I'm in the process of doing just that - looking for flat top pistons for 1100 to bring the CR back up will still need a little off the head as well> The 295 looks like it has been Vizardised and has unleaded seats and slightly bigger inlet valves. Will be using twin HS2 3 into 1 , double timing chain and RE13 cam.

I didn't know that - learn something new every day - some days I learn lots.... :?

David, how about getting some 998 pistons machined down?

Spoke with Paul Gulson today (former Leyland driver) he says he turns down 998 dished pistons to the bottom of the dish - discards the top ring and use a chrome ring as top (second slot) and cast iron next down Uses hypatecs then gave me a detail method to get 2 thou clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall. If I follow his method I'll go back to him and right it down

What type of power increase would we expect, and what carb should I run?

A standard 1100 is shown as 45hp and my motor is a Vanden Plas and is rated at 55hp Probably mainly in the cam and maybe higher compression. I'm adding the twin HS2s and extractors into RC40 and adding twin chain timing - all things PG said to do and when I told him I was he just said "you go like a rocket" He also suggested a slightly hotter cam but I'll check the one in it before going fo the RE13. Paul also suggested 3.4 diff which will give me top power at 3K - great for passing in top gear on the highway

If I can get another 10hp out of it I'll be happy

Checked my source - your right  The extra HP form the Vanden Plas must be in the cam - I had it out enough the ID it as a 12G726 which Vizard says is worth up to 5hp over the standard 12A1065
