There is a strange set of twin carbs on ebay at the moment,

Can anyone identify them?

those there is h2's i think, as fitted to morris minor OHV engines(single), they are a 1 1/8 inch, similar to an hs2 but with a square body, as seller says they would be good on a smallbore, like an 850 or 998, very retro. 8) i want them :D

sounds right. H1 or H2 though, cant remember which size is which, theres also an h4(1 1/2) for extra coolness

If they are H1 they are 1 1/8"; H2 is 1 1/4"

They are most likely H2's. H1's had a different shaped mounting flange and the mounting holes are closer together. They won't fit on a standard Mini type manifold with HS2 stud spacings.
They leak at the slightest provocation around the jet assembly as the jet assembly is not self contained as in the HS types.
You can't change the float mounting angle by changing the flexible rubber mount thingy. A change of mounting angle requires a different float chamber assembly.
If I remember correctly Morris Minor Series 2 cars used them but with a mounting angle of 20Deg along with twins on bugeye sprites.
They have a longer body than the HS types, the S in HS means short body, and you may have difficulty fitting them on a Mini as they foul the bulkhead.

Works cars in UK did use H4s on the stock type HS2 twin manifold, not sure if they fouled the body or not. :wink:

Hi Kevin,
I'm sure they will fit if you change the float chambers to 30Deg types.
As you say the works cars used H4 twins and the ST catalogues list H6 sets as well.
Fortunately the mounting flange is the same for HS2 and H4 types. Makes for an easy swap.
If you use the later S twin manifold with the square shaped mounting flange you can also use HS4 and HS6/HIF6/HIF43 types. Don't know what flange the HIF4/38 uses but it will probably fit as well.
