turns? you mean turns of the engine with a mechanical pump? it ought to gravity feed most of the way, and a little bit to push it up behind the motor.... can't answer though, I use electric pumps

How many turns does it take approx to get fuel from the tank to the carb with empty fuel lines? This assuming a primed carb.. |

Yep the mechanical. The gravity feed is less on a moke because the tank is lower |

If the carb is primed it should draw enough fuel from the initial startup , maybe prime the carb twice and run it and it should be there . Also , if you're still having trouble , take the fuel line off the pump on the tank side and let it sit for a while so it gravity feeds to just below the fuel pump , then connect it and try again , just in case the pump is too dry to draw the fuel the full lenght of the line . Is there any filter in the way ? Maybe take the fuel tank off the mower and wire it above the engine bay to start the motor that way with a length of hose from the fuel pump to a bucket so the carb has fuel and the pump can freely draw the fuel . Electric pumps are so much easier though ... |

My mini has a mechanical fuel pump and i have run out of feul in a couple of times. I just use some aerostart in the throat of the carby and the motor will start and run for a few seconds. Then I do the same thing again and possibly even a third or fourth time. By then the engine has made the fuel pump suck and push fuel into the carby and the car is running normally. I do this because the starter motor is not whining away and drawing too much from the battery. I leave a couple of seconds between bursts of aerostart and restarts because i dont want a blow back of burning ether to ignite under the bonnet. But it doesn't take very long to get the fule up into the carby bowls. |

I can actually drive about 1km on just the fuel in my fuel bowls (twins) - I know cos I can hear when the electric pump goes mad, and about 1km after that I stop... usually very close to the petrol station 
so if you fill up the bowl, you ought to have there to start and run for a few minutes, so plenty to get the fuel up from the tank... |

no brakes yet, so not quite yet, but I will be starting with no exhaust and the garage door open. I think I might need to rev it out as well

If you fill the float bowl on the carby it should pull the fuel up before it runs out. |
