hi will be pulling the engine out of my car very soon and i was wondering how you disconnect the gearchange/remote housing out is it easy thanks nathan |

i undid the four bolts holding the selector to the gearbox, put a brick underneath to support it, and then undid the bolt holding it in near the shifter, have NFI how im going to get it back in though ![]() |

Yeah its easy mate....get yourself a workshop manual and follow the steps....you can make it easy for yourself by jacking the front up so that you can undo the front four bolts (at the gearbox) and detach the gearshift end (bolts under the "transmission" tunnel etc). |

![]() According to service manual "Refitting is a reverse of the removal procedure" ![]() It's not that hard just fiddle with the gearstick to get the both gearbox and remote to connect eacht other then bolt in. It won't sit in properly unless they are properly connected therefore you can't bolt it wrong. (Well don't hold me to that but I couldn't bolt it in till it all lined up, with much fiddling of the gearstick) |

If you are just pulling the motor out and will be putting it back, you can leave the remote and rear mount in the car. Just drop the 4 bolts out at front, and put something underneath to support it there. ![]() When putting it back on, fit it before the steady bar is connected so you can rock the motor a little. |
