Post subject: | UK mini order |
G'day folks, I am thinking of doing an order with minispares from the UK. Does anyone know what the price limit is before customs get involved? The customs website seem to say $1k, but I'm not so sure. Cheers |

If you POST it the limit supposedly is $1,000. If sent via couriers- UPS, DHL etc it's $400 unless they've changed it. Watch the post limit though- my (ex)customs spy told me they look harder at stuff that's worth over $600 or so. Minispares likes using couriers, probably because they pick up, saves `em going to PO... ![]() I always ask them to POST it. Much cheaper. If UPS deliver, and it's near or over A$400 limit, it can cost you UPS handling charges this end too, + 15% sales tax and 10% GST... ![]() |

I would not only ask them to post, but tell them WHY. Works for me... ![]() |

They usually won't post anything over 2kg. Only use couriers. You could buy it in several orders ![]() |

feralsprint wrote: As doc said get them to post it its cheaper and just as fast Probably much quicker with the post anyway as UPS is without a doubt the worst, slowest and least reliable company in the world (Second to the Baghdad road assistance service maybe). Plus mini spares have a habbit of not displaying your phone number clearly on the order, which is needed by UPS to contact you once its in Sydney and this causes a several weeks long delay with delivery every single time (in my experience). |

feralsprint is right, the limit has been increased upto $1k. I emailed customs and they sent this back: Quote: The $1000 AUD limit is across the board, and is based on the value of the goods only. If Duty and GST is charged, Duty is based on the value of the goods and GST is based on the Value, plus any Duty, plus Freight and insurance then calculate the 10% GST.
Just out of interest is there anyone in Perth wanting to do an order from minispares at the moment? Because freight can be quite big and it could help to split it up a bit. |
