sorry jam i wasn't giving the an explanation of the term ping... i was letting minimonaro know that if he's looking fot mickmini he could PM him.... it's what it's for. ![]() and a ping is what one computer on a network does to see if another computer is there... the source sends some data (pings) the ip of the target pc and then the target will send a response ("pong") back... if you want to try it.. use the start menu->Run and type ping 127.0.0.1 that will ping your own computer.. </NERD FEST> hey... it is geek week |

PM sent ![]() PING used to be used to identify the node or computer that sent a data message to you as well. No idea why it was PING. |

The term `ping' comes from sonar useage, I think- subs would send sonar signal and a `ping' received meant some bastard was there.. probably an enemy. ![]() |
