take your wheel off, then disconnect your top ball joint and they just slide out :)

Most Clubbies these days have `pot joint' at the inner driveshaft ends.
These will slide out during engine lift if you remove their rubber boot clips first.
If they don't, undo a top balljoint and pull the driveshaft outwards.

Do watch the 6 balls in each don't roll out of sight...

Depends on what sort of mini it is in respect of the connection of the drive shaft to the gearbox.

There is three types
Hardy-Spicer type uni Joint which is next to the gearbox on either side and simply has four nuts and bolts to be undone.

Rubber uni joint which is held in place by a number of U-bolts and nuts that need to be undone.

Pot Joint type found on rod change type gear boxes. You have to drop the top ball joint on the wheel hub unit and then pull the whole assembly towards you. It just slides out but be careful as the cage contains six balls a side and these will fall out if not careful. No big deal as long as you dont loose any. You do not have to disconnect the bottom ball joint

laughed for about a minute, i had the same prob i thought they just fell out when you lift him up, but no world of engineering had to make it tricky, go with splitting those ball joints,

this shows how much trouble i had, once you know how i reckon i could do it in an 1.5 hours but having no idea it took me all day and most of the night,

Top tip when putting it all back together, assuming you have Pot Joints. Put the balls back in place on the driveshaft, grease them up and wrap tightly with GLAD WRAP. The Glad Wrap stops the balls falling out when you are re-inserting the driveshaft. The glad wrap wears away in a few thousand kays and has no detrimental effect on the joint.

i put the engine back in my mini last week and the new grease was sticky enuogh to hold the balls in,

if your lucky you have the bolts on the front of the head, dam they were helpful, i used the bolt and the spot where the engine steadies go,
