I am trying to nut out the history of the Mini Matic for the next issue of The Mini Experience, and am having a great deal of trouble tracking down production figures and dates.
I have got quite a bit of info on the beginning of production, technical details, ads, company info, etc.
However, it seems that production figures are unknown, and I can not get an exact date for when production stopped in Oz or the UK - although I have vague dates (1970 and 1999 respectively). That is, with the exception of Innocenti automatic Minis - production figures do exist for those.
I have PM'd a few ausmini members and have got some more info from them, but still nothing concrete. I have put the feelers out with BMIHT in UK, BMC/L Heritage Group in Sydney and various others, but have yet to hear back from them. The contact details I have for Automotive Productes in the UK and British Automotive Industries (the Aussie subsidury of AP) in Sydney are both out of date.
I would appreciate any contacts to either of these companies, or anyone else who can give any detailed production information.
Alternatively, if anyone other than the people I have already PM'd or emailed, has an Australian Mini Matic, I would like to hear from them with chassis nbumbers and build dates. You can email or PM me with the info if you prefer, and the information will be kept confidential. I will only use the info to compare chassis numbers and build dates to try and nut out some more of the history.
