Post subject:  How to remove wiper mounts from body

I'm nearly done tearing my Mini down to a bare shell now, but one thing I can't seem to figure out is how to remove the wiper mounts, the tube with the cable, and the wiper motor from the body. After undoing the large retaining nut on the wiper mounts, I then loosened the bolts that held the wiper mounts to the metal tube that holds the cable. But now I'm stuck. I don't see how you can angle the wiper mounts to get them to come out of their holes.

Just looking for advice on how to do this. I think I'm not approaching this the correct way!

Yea, I did. The wiper motor is now free, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the wiper mounts off the body. I've tried angling the cable tube any which way I can without luck.

So have u removed the motor from the car, along with the coiled drive cable? The only thing holding the actually rack to the car are the 2 large nuts on drive spindles. Mite need to flog it?

you've gotta stand on one leg, close your left eye and bite your tongue so hard that it bleeds.... then it'll come out like a greased pig from a sewer pipe...

I have done it with the wheelboxes intact, you've gotta pull it down, and rotate the whole assembly away from you - but it's only worked for me once or twice

seriously, the easiest way is to disassemble the drivers side wheelbox, if it's a post '68 car, there are 2 x 5/16 (or 3/8, can't remember) nuts, the plate comes off the bottom and a small piece of tube from the end - then take the cable out of just that wheelbox and the other wheel box and the main tube ought to come out pretty easily

make sure the retaining strips for the loom etc. are bent away from the tubing - they stop it coming down to where you need it

it's a crap job, getting it back in is worse, just takes perseverence
