Post subject: | door re-build |
Ive just spent the past two days putting a door i had bead blasted and sprayed back together. What a pain in the neck. I'm not looking forward to doing the other door. I'd be interested in hearing other stories about door re-building from anyone. |

yeah it drove me crazy. The lock remote was the biggest pain. I'm dissapointed at how I was unnable to keep the door in A1 condition whilst doing the re-build. the outer skin is still in perfect nic but thats about it. I'd like to find another door for the other side and re-build it over a much longer period of time and use as many new parts as possible. Has anyone ever tried this? |

I'm about to do both mine, it was a stinker to remove, and I can imagine, thrice the stinker to put back together. Anyone got a decent scan of the process of it going back together? I have the manual, but its crapola for diagrams when it comes to this. ![]() |

my tip that differs from the workshop manual is to connect the door lock remote before setting the vent window glass and frame. |

yeah the door handle is a tough one. you will need a small wratchet that takes screwdriver bits as you cant get a standard screwdriver in there. there is also a split pin in there which you can take out when the screws are out. Then it should all come out. As for putting it back together the hardest and most time consuming part is getting the screw closest to the hinge back in. Its a real pain. Took me an hour or so to get it to catch on. I put paper glue (UHU) on the screw head to keep it attached to the screwdriver bit. I'm by no means an expert though. |
